MACBETH

Shakespeare wrote about a man who had a dark ambition to be King, an ambition fueled by the prophecy of witches and further inspired by his own wife’s evil desires. So he murders the old King, and then finds his hands are stained with blood. It’s blood that is ever after stained his destiny…

This performance was created as a solo silent drama. Shakespeare’s enormous dialogues and huge compositions are transformed into the objects, puppets, colors, sounds, and other simple materials on the stage.

Now, a new Macbeth comes to you.

NEW ZEALAND DOMINION 1999

"Combination of stunningly beautiful Czech puppets and Bunraku puppet theatre, creates a production made in heaven. It is eerily beautiful, intriguing and extraordinarily well performed."
